The Story So Far

The Master Baker has been running for over 40 years under the Ferioli management.  Giuseppe started training as a baker at 16 years old at Southampton College, during his baker’s course he used to work every Saturday at Edwin Jones where a Fred Walker took him under his wing and helped train Giuseppe into the baker he has come today.


Once Giuseppe qualified as a Baker he worked at a Bakery in Portsmouth owned by Mr Lindon, also called The Master Baker.


In 1972 Mr Lindon opened up Harestock Bakery and Giuseppe transferred to the Winchester branch, Fred Walker also joined them at Harestock Bakery and the old time friends were reunited.


Giuseppe was offered the opportunity to take over the Harestock Master Baker in 1982, which he took on and has never looked back since.

The Ferioli family have all been involved in working at The Master Baker from 1972 until now.


Teresa Ferioli Giuseppe’s wife runs the front of shop, if you’re in need of good and friendly service you will certainly get that from Teresa, who also makes the best filled rolls in the land.  Customers are also known for going in to help brush up on their Italian speaking skills.  Teresa runs the front of shop with long term working companion Sandy.


Donato Ferioli Giuseppe and Teresa’s eldest son also works at the Master Baker, Giuseppe has passed on his passion and experience to Donato who has added his own twist to the Bakery’s traditional recipes.
